Our History

The history of Calulut Baptist Church traces its roots to 1960, when American missionaries arrived in Barangay Calulut to proclaim the great love of God to its people.

By 1970, the foundation of the church was further strengthened through the leadership of its early members and faithful pioneers—Bro. Jess Manalang, Bro. Dadong Gomez, Bro. Oscar Paras, Bro. Oscar Vergara, Bro. Terio Vital, and Bro. Emiliano Sarmiento. Together with their families, they conducted home Bible studies, which became a vital means for the growth and spread of God’s Word in the community.

In 1981, Ptr. De Jesus, who was then serving as an evangelist assisting in the Lord’s work, proposed the construction of a church building and provided its simple design. On August 9 of that same year, the first worship service was held in the newly constructed church building.

In 1983, Pastor Nick Infante faithfully served as Interim Pastor for four months.

In May 1985, Pastor Pons Medina was installed as Resident Pastor of Calulut Baptist Church. He currently serves at Trinity Baptist Church in Mabalacat City.

In 1990, CBC purchased the lot on which the present church building now stands. That same year, the first set of church officers was established to assist in leadership and ministry. Also in 1990, Calulut Baptist Church was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a formally recognized religious organization.

On November 1, 1998, the church held its first Sunday School Day celebration. Since then, the first week of November has been dedicated annually to celebrating and showcasing the various gifts and talents God has entrusted to His people within the church.

In November 2000, construction began on a new church building. On August 12, 2001, the first worship service was held in the new facility, coinciding with the church’s 20th anniversary. That same year, the Lord’s work expanded into neighboring barangays such as Del Carmen and Del Rosario through Bible studies.

Also in 2001, a Jail Ministry was established under the leadership of Pastor Norman Mayrina to bring God’s Word to those who are incarcerated.

On February 12, 2005, a special prayer ministry called “Epaphras 5:6” was launched—a prayer covenant held every Saturday from 5:00 to 6:00 a.m. as a time of united prayer and spiritual preparation.

From 2007 to 2008, Pastor Conrad Dela Cruz served as Associate Pastor. He currently serves as Resident Pastor of Solid Foundation Baptist Church in Mabalacat.

In June 2011, Pastor Carlo Caguiat began serving as Youth Pastor and faithfully ministered to the youth until 2015, playing a significant role in their spiritual growth.

In 2013, Pastor Marlon Albaladejo was installed as Resident Pastor. Under his leadership, the church became increasingly active in various ministries and mission efforts. Mission churches were established, including Covenant Community Baptist Mission in Floridablanca and Riverside Baptist Mission in Mabalacat. Sabanilla Agape Baptist Church in Mexico was also planted as a daughter church.

Every Holy Week, CBC conducts its Annual Family Retreat in various resorts across Pampanga, aimed at spiritual renewal, family strengthening, and deeper growth in faith.

In May 2014, the church began its Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS), a ministry dedicated to sharing God’s Word with children during school breaks. After a three-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DVBS resumed in 2024.

In 2017, care groups were introduced to foster mutual encouragement and collective study of God’s Word. At present, five groups actively participate in this ministry.

In 2018, CBC launched the Adopt-A-Pastor Program to provide support to God’s servants within CLASBC.

In March 2020, the global COVID-19 pandemic led to restrictions on gatherings, including worship services. Despite these challenges, the Lord remained faithful and used technology to keep the church united for nearly two years. Face-to-face worship services resumed in December 2021.

In February 2024, God allowed Pastor Marlon Albaladejo to conclude his service as Resident Pastor in order to give attention to his health.

In 2024, Bro. Allen Vergara was appointed as the church’s first Music Minister after completing his Certificate in Church Music at PBTS in Baguio in May 2024.

From February 2024 until March of the following year, during a season of transition, the Lord faithfully sustained Calulut Baptist Church. The deacons and pastors from CLASBC faithfully preached God’s Word while the congregation prayerfully sought a new pastor.

In God’s appointed time, on June 1 2025, the Lord answered CBC’s prayers and graciously installed Pastor Franco Ferrer as the new Resident Pastor.

At present, by the continued grace of God, His Word provides renewed direction for Calulut Baptist Church to grow as a healthy local church that reflects and displays His glory.
